Antananarivo (21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women) – Angola retain her third position in Africa Women basketball championship with a 76-57 points victory over Cote d’Ivoire.

The Angolan won in the first, third and fourth quarters (17-12, 24-12 and 26-15) points respectively to keep the enterprising Ivoirians at bay.

Cote d’Ivoire’s slim 18-17 points win in the second quarter was not enough to save from being push to the fourth place, a position considered to be a good one for the young Cote d’Ivoire side who were only admitted into the championship with less than ten days to the commencement of the championship after Guinea withdrew due to political situation.

Cote d’Ivoire versatile player, Kani Kouyate led the floor with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steal, Minata Fofana had a double double of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Denaimou N’Garsanet added 10 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steal.

Angola Catarina Camufal led her team with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists while Luisa Tomas had contributed 12 points and 8 rebounds.
